London Fog

We saw these Fog signs for the 30 miles driving into London.
So nice to know why the viability was low...

translations

I am finding myself talking to someone and thinking they are using a general word for a specific word and then I will say the specific word and they will repeat the general. Then I realize I am actually translating English to American. There are people who are kitchen or bathroom Fitters by trade. I now know that meat can be lovely and weather can be appalling. If someone says I look smart, they do not mean I look intelligent but nice or sharp. My neighbor had builders not a contractor put up an extension not an addition. He said he was going to be decorating his daughter's new room. He meant he was going to be painting, wallpapering, and finishing the interior not picking out hello-kitty lamps.

Walk in the Mud

The Thames path is now flooded or just a mud path. It's fantastic! Like being five again.

Road Trip: Brighton

We took a day trip to Brighton to see the coast on a cold grey day in November. I would like to go back in warmer, sunnier weather.

old next to new

I was in London for an interview last week and snapped these around The City near Bishops Gate and Bank Station. Lots of construction going on in this area. The last 2 photos are of a brick facade that is being braced and rebuilt. And then of course it started to rain.

We have seem this type sprint across our floor several times. I think he is a running crab spider. He's about 2 inches with legs.
